Liam’s Story
“There was a period of time after the injury where I had to get myself ready to accept that I might never be independent again.”

Away from the office
Nisi expedita praesentium sed hic asperiores. Natus nihil et qui odit omnis ut nihil eos fugit. Incidunt et nihil qui et ex eveniet. Id laborum numquam voluptate debitis debitis ipsa est est numquam.
I am a mother of three so understand the challenges of family life. I have been committed to pro-bono work as a Trustee of a local nursery for a number of years and wherever possible try to find time to enjoy the outdoors, away from my desk. I am a keen swimmer, skier and have become partial to the odd cruise or two!. Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Donec ullamcorper mattis lorem non. Looking to the future
Liam’s recently felt confident to move into his own home with his girlfriend Izzy. The pair went to primary school together but started seeing each other more regularly after Liam’s injury. He says, “I did warn her it would be a tough ride but she’s up for the challenge. Socially she does a lot for me. She’s a translator when I struggle to get my words out. She understands what I’m trying to say.”
As he’s regained his independence, Liam’s found a love of cooking, “Something where I can get creative with the flavours. I love those little things I can take charge of.”
Choosing the right services for you
We originally focussed on criminal law, but by the 1980s we were working on some of the UK’s most high-profile personal injury cases, including:
- The Zeebrugge ferry disaster
- The Marchioness riverboat disaster
- The British Airtours Boeing 737 disaster at Manchester Airport
- The Kegworth Air Crash
- The Lockerbie Pan-Am flight terrorist bombing.
As our reputation grew around the country, it was time for the firm to grow with it. In 1989, we opened our second office in Birmingham.
This growth continued into the 1990s with a series of mergers and acquisitions and offices opening in Leeds and London. By 2007, we’d moved into Newcastle, Manchester, and Glasgow as well. Expansion in the South of England continued through the 2010s.
Through this journey, Irwin Mitchell has become the largest full-service law firm in the UK with leading private client and business legal departments. We’ve also developed a highly-respected wealth management service after helping thousands of clients manage large compensation settlements.
